Our Story
When Duke joined our family, we knew he was not just a pet; he was a beloved member of our family, bringing laughter, warmth, and unconditional love into our lives. As Duke grew older, I became increasingly aware of the importance of providing him with the best care, not just in terms of love and attention, but also in terms of his diet.
One day, as I was strolling through the aisles of the local pet store, I couldn't help but notice the plethora of dog treats that lined the shelves. However, upon closer inspection, I was dismayed to find that many of these treats were filled with artificial ingredients, preservatives, added sugars, and words I needed a dictionary to interpret. Concerned about Duke's well-being, I decided it was time to take matters into my own hands.
Armed with a determination to offer Duke treats made with ingredients I could understand, I embarked on a journey to create homemade dog treats. My kitchen transformed into a pet-friendly laboratory, and I began researching and experimenting, making sure each ingredient was safe for dogs.
The heart of Duke's treats became a blend of whole grains, dog-friendly proteins, and fruits and vegetables. I avoided artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives. Today that means organic brown rice and organic peanut butter in every recipe, with flavors like blueberry, apple and kale, sweet potato and salmon, pumpkin spice, peanut butter and banana, and bacon and banana.
As I shared these treats with Duke and watched his tail wag with delight, I realized the impact of my decision extended beyond our home. The positive responses from friends and family who let their fur babies try Duke's homemade treats inspired me to share Duke's Delights with the wider community.
Thus, Duke's Delights was born in 2022, a small Texas business baking dog treats. The joy on the faces of dogs and their owners as they discovered Duke's treats was immensely rewarding. It wasn't just about a tasty snack; it was about a happier everyday life for our furry companions.
