💛 They Know When It's a Bad Day
It was a rough one. The kind of day where the news was bad, the email was worse, and you walked in the door without saying a word.
You did not tell the dog. You did not have to. 🐾
They did not rush you with a toy. They did not do the usual spin. Instead, they walked over, slowly, and sat down right against your leg. Not on your lap. Not begging. Just close. Warm. Quiet.
And somehow that was exactly the right thing.
Here is what that kind of dog does on a bad day:
💛 Follows you from room to room, without making it a thing.
💛 Leans their whole weight into your shin like a furry little anchor.
💛 Rests a chin on your shoe and lets out one long, slow breath.
💛 Skips the zoomies. Even the zoomies know when to wait.
💛 Looks up every few minutes, just to check that you are still there.
No advice. No fixing. No "at least it is Friday." Just company.
Here's What We Believe:
We do not know exactly how dogs know. Maybe it is the way you walk. Maybe it is your voice. Maybe they simply notice everything about the person they love most, because you are their favorite subject.
What we do know is this: they show up. Every good day and every hard one. They do not need you to be cheerful. They do not need you to explain. They only need you to be you, and then they stay right where you are.
A bad day with a dog next to you is still a bad day. But it is a lot more bearable, and a little more soft around the edges.
At Duke's Delights, we think the simplest thank-you is a small one. A quiet moment, a gentle scratch behind the ears, and one of our Apple & Kale Delight treats for the best friend who sat with you. 🍎
Now It's Your Turn
Tell us about the day your dog just knew. Share a photo or a short video and tag #MyDukesDay so we can find it. We read every one.
